 The Alaska Association for Career and Technical Education (Alaska ACTE) is hosting their 28th annual professional development conference October 19-21 in Anchorage. This year's theme is Alaska ACTE: Building a State of Collaboration. There will be four strands to choose from:
  • Innovative Partnerships
  • ​Rural Showcase
  • Crosswalks and Curriculum Integration
  • ​​Instructional Strategies

As the school year winds down, we’d like to ask you to share pictures of your CTE programs with us and we will post them to the CTE Plan website over the next year. Email pictures and their descriptions to: marcia.olson@alaska.gov. Pictures of students would be great – please have a signed photo release on file that allows you to share them with us.
Other ideas to submit pictures of:
  • Skookum facilities
  • Construction academies
  • Completed student projects
  • Teacher Industry Externship (TIE)

February is national and state CTE Month! We invite you to celebrate with us and extend it through this quarter’s call to action! Here are some ideas to get you started:
  • Showcase your CTE programs in your local newspaper
  • Give certificates to all CTE teachers
  • Create a CTE/Career Extravaganza Day and invite your local legislators for breakfast to kick it off
  • Highlight one item each day about CTE during the morning announcements

However you decide to celebrate – let others celebrate with you by either:
  • Emailing a picture and share how you are celebrating CTE Month to marcia.olson@alaska.gov and it will be posted to the Alaska CTE Plan website or
  • Participating in UAA Community and Technical College’s Facebook Campaign by posting a picture of how you are celebrating CTE with a caption of “I believe in CTE because _______.”
