CTE Plan Advisory Committee

The CTE Action Committee held its annual work session on April 27, 2015. EED Commissioner Mike Hanley and DOLWD Commissioner Heidi Drygas opened the meeting by reiterating their support for CTE and the CTE Plan, as well as highlighting Governor Walker’s passion for CTE. They talked about expanding CTE opportunities for all students, creating CTE messaging for parents, students, and educators, and working collaboratively to support CTE without duplicating efforts.
The Action Committee was briefed on the CTE Plan Partners’ work over the previous year on moving the CTE Plan forward. After discussion, the group identified the top three priorities for next year:

- Promote Registered Apprenticeships and apprenticeship readiness.
- Identify advocacy items for legislators, and include other organizations in this effort, such as ARDORS, DCCED, and BEC.
- Incentivize the hire of Alaska high school seniors for Alaska jobs and work to remove barriers to employment.
