Alaska High School Culinary Teams Shine in National Competition

Alaska ProStart Management and Culinary Teams Place 11th and 25th in the National ProStart Invitational     

Mat-Su Career and Technical High School and Chugiak High School students Compete at National Culinary and Management Competition

Alaska ProStart is proud to announce that the Mat-Su Career and Technical High School and Chugiak High School took 25th and 11th (respectively) at the 14th Annual National ProStart Invitational, held at the Disneyland Hotel in Anaheim, California. The culinary team competed against 48 teams and the management team competed against 41 teams from across the United States, U.S. territories, and DoD schools. At the national competition, hosted by the National Restaurant Association Educational Foundation, the top five teams from both the culinary and management competitions were awarded over a $1,000,000 in scholarships to pursue a college education.

BP Teachers of Excellence Nominations Open

"The BP Teachers of Excellence program recognizes teachers from throughout Alaska for their dedication to teaching and for inspiring students. Since the program launched in 1995, hundreds of remarkable teachers have been recognized by their peers, students, parents and community members as BP Teachers of Excellence."

Alaska ACTE Adopts Resolutions

At its annual business meeting on October 22, 2014, the Alaska Association for Career and Technical Education (Alaska ACTE) adopted the following resolutions:

  • Resolution 14-1: In Honor and Memory of Dale Staley's Lifelong Commitment to Alaska CTE
  • Resolution 14-2: Continued Implemention of Alaska's State CTE Plan
  • Resolution 14-3: Support for implementation of Alaska's Workforce Development Plans
  • Resolution 14-4: Options for Including CTE Courses in Meeting Alaska Performance Scholarship Curricular Requirements
